Beginner path
How to start studying Gnostic teachings
Begin with orientation, not a pile of PDFs. Spend one week learning what people mean by Gnosis, which tradition is speaking, and where to read without leaving your body behind. Then sit with a single hub and a single practice.
Before you collect teachers
The field is loud. Practical schools, church lineages, and encyclopedia pages can look like one shelf in a search result. They are not. Read what Gnosis means here and the three tradition lanes before you treat one lecturer as the whole map.
The point of a first week is not to finish a canon. It is to know what the word means, which doorway you are standing in, and whether the path still feels honest when the novelty drops. The ordered curriculum of the whole house is Map of the Work — ice, walked paths, later keys. This guide is the first week.
A recommended first week
This is a placeholder outline, not a vow. Adjust it if your life is already full. The same week is paced as steps on Start here.
- Day 1 — Read the beginner path and the disclaimer once, slowly.
- Day 2 — Skim Practical, Classical, and Academic so the labels settle.
- Day 3 — Spend thirty quiet minutes on one hub, not five.
- Day 4 — Try a short sitting on the Raja Yoga meditation path (start at limb 1). If ethics already feels huge, use Yama and Niyama for beginners. If you cannot sit one minute, use first concentration. Orientation: Gnostic meditation.
- Day 5 — Write what you actually experienced, not what you hoped.
- Day 6 — Return to the same hub; resist the urge to shop teachers.
- Day 7 — Rest. Decide whether the path still feels honest. If the house itself is the mess, home cleansing can wait until next week — one room, not a renovation.
Two bookmarks are enough
For practice-oriented teaching in the Samael Aun Weor stream, begin at Glorian (opens in a new tab) . For the scriptures themselves, keep the Gnosis Archive Nag Hammadi Library (opens in a new tab) at hand. A slower entrance to that jar is our Nag Hammadi orientation. Two bookmarks are enough for a first month.
If you want a labeled card before you click, the collection lists those rooms with tradition, media type, and last-checked dates. We do not host the books.
How the year-cycle helps
After a first week, one next sitting is enough. The daily lectionary gives a short framing of ours, then a link to the publisher. It is a path, not a test: you may begin on today’s civil date or at day 1. About the year cycle explains why some URLs repeat — a lectionary returns to the same sanctuary with a new question.
Safety
Spiritual psychology is not clinical care. If you are in crisis, dealing with addiction, or need medical or psychiatric help, go to professionals and emergency services — not a lecture archive. Habit and ego language on this map is framed in the inner-work guide, the inner work walked path, and the handheld paths at I want to change (pornography, cannabis, alcohol, anger, sleep, simplifying money), always with a medical disclaimer — and a financial-tools disclaimer on the money path.
When you are ready
The longer beginner page is the same week, written as steps you can walk in order.
